Minneapolis based rock and roll band Part Time Ex's returns to the Austin ArtWorks Center for its 12th Annual "Music At The Bank" concert and fundraiser performing on Friday, October 23 at 7:00pm. Led by Austin High School alumni Jon Stowell ('99) and Adam Johnson ('98), and joined by longtime bassist Jon Fischler, Pete Wangen on drums, and Eli Bentley on lead guitar. "We've played a fundraiser for the Austin ArtWorks Center and Austin Area Arts for a dozen years now," Stowell said. "Pretty soon our concert series will be eligible for a learners permit."
Part Time Ex's blends original rock songs with influences from Blues, Americana, Classic Country, and Heavy Metal. "We play some folk standards and Dylan and John Prine, we also play Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy," Stowell says, "each of us brings our unique musical history into the band." Stowell frequently talks about how his passion for music started and was fostered throughout his childhood in Austin. "I took piano lessons at Apold's, I sang in Austinaires for Brian Johnson, I sang in choruses in Summerset plays at Riverland. My passion for music is inextricably connected to growing up in Austin and its commitment to the arts."
The group will also be debuting a new music video at the concert. "I love Detroit. Eli and I wrote a song about a breakup that's set in Detroit, and we went there and filmed a music video with videographer Joshua Seifert. I'm excited to share it, it's very Part Time Ex's" Stowell laughs.
The performance is Friday, October 23rd at 7pm at the Austin ArtWorks Center at 300 N. Main Street in downtown Austin. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. All proceeds benefit the Austin Area Arts organization.
