In this weekend workshop, you will learn the basics of working with smalti- the beautiful Italian glass that has been used in mosaics for centuries. You will learn about different types of smalti, how they are made, and how to cut them with both nippers and hammer and hardie. Instruction includes how to use this set mortar as a setting medium and hot to work from an image. We will cover basic setting styles, both ancient and modern. Choose a simple design image from my collection, or send me an image that you would be interested in creating. (Remember to keep it simple). You will leave class with a colorful, 6”x6” Smalti mosaic.

Use of tools, substrates and materials and included. No art or mosaic experience necessary.
