Building an Embroidery Sketchbook: Foundational Stitches

  • Austin ArtWorks Center 300 N. Main St. Austin, MN 55912 (map)

Saturday, April 2nd from 1pm- 4pm

Geared towards ages 15+

Instructor: Kelsey Dilts McGregor

Get started in this introductory level embroidery basics class by learning four foundational embroidery stitches—fly, seed, detached chain, and couching—and then build on these with variations related to each technique—feather, running, back, brick, square chain, zig zag, long-tailed, and bokhara couching. Learn how to transfer your own design ideas to fabric and how to finish pieces—beyond hanging them mounted in the hoop. With new skills at hand and three samplers started, focus will be on unlearning the need to make things “perfect” and instead explore what works to set your inner artist free! Join us in this beginning-level class to discover, explore, and experiment with this beautiful art form.
