CANCELED Sounds of the Season with the Austinaires

  • Historic Paramount Theatre 125 4th Ave NE Austin MN 55912 (map)

1/12/22 - It is with a heavy heart we must announce the cancellation of the Sounds of the Season set for Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 2pm at the Historic Paramount Theatre.

After initially being postponed due to winter weather, the show will not be possible because of the rapid community spread of COVID-19 at this time. Many students scheduled to perform are not available on Sunday due to illness or quarantine.

Sounds of the Season will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 2pm at the Historic Paramount Theatre. Tickets from the December date are automatically transferred to the new date. No action is required. Additional tickets are available for the reschedule date.

Sounds of the Season with the Austinaires

Celebrate the holidays with music from Austin’s talented youth musicians. This holiday show will feature the Austinaires, a 22-voice, auditioned show choir; Jazz One, an auditioned jazz band in their first stage performance in 21 months; AHS Flute Choir; AHS Clarinet Choir; and La Fiera Chamber Orchestra, an auditioned orchestra ensemble.

Masks are required for all attendees, even those who are fully vaccinated.

Tickets on sale now!

A choir dressed in black outfits with red accents performs on a stage with microphones, a grand piano, and a drum set in the background. Some members are wearing face masks.

Effective November 1st - While the community spread level remains high in Mower County, Austin Area Arts will follow masking protocols for our programing. Thank you for supporting the safety of our staff and community. Masks are required inside the Paramount Theatre no matter of vaccination status. Briefly removing masks for eating and drinking is allowed.

Ticket buyers will also be given an arrival time to reduce crowding in the lobby before the show.

There is a 12 foot clear zone on the stage will where vocalists’ breath may be projected without reaching patrons sitting in the front row.

The Paramount ventilation system has been upgraded to MERV 13 filters to reduce the spread of micro particles in the air.

Austin Area Arts staff are fully vaccinated.

The Paramount is stocked with soap, paper towels, hand sanitizer and tissues and public surfaces are cleaned appropriately.

New Tools for Patrons with Hearing Loss

The Paramount Theatre is now offering assistance to patrons who are hard of hearing. The system helps to overcome background noise, reverberation and distance from the sound source. Two options are available:

  • If you already wear a t-coil enabled hearing aid, we offer a neckloop and receiver which is about the size of a pack of cards. The neckloop will connect with bluetooth in your hearing aid and the receiver allows you to control the volume. The sound mix from the Paramount’s sound system will transmit directly to your hearing aid.
For those who are more technologically inclined, you have the option to download the WaveCAST Listening App (available on iOS or Android) and use your smart phone to control how the neckloop technology connects to your hearing aid. In that case the receiver is not necessary.

  • If you do not wear a hearing aid, we offer an earphone and receiver which is about the size of a pack of cards. The earphone mounts on your outer ear and is controlled by the receiver. The sound mix from the Paramount’s sound system will transmit directly to your ear

All neckloops, earphones and receivers are sanitized after each use.
