Need a new pair of earrings? Or a new necklace? How about creating your own pair of earrings or necklace through the use of silk screens and powdered glass enamels.
Enamels come alive with layers, colors and patterns. Silk screening is a technique used to transfer a design to vitreous enamel. In this class you will learn how to push powdered enamel through a silk screen. With each color you repeat the process using a variety of different patterned screens. End result is an enameled piece with multiple layers of colors and designs.
Come and play with powdered glass. Learn the art of enameling, the process of binding powdered glass to a metal surface. In this class, you will learn basic enameling skills. You will learn how to sift powdered glass onto copper. You will then heat and melt the powdered glass by the use of a Mapp gas torch. With the use of silk screens you will add layers of colors and designs to your enameled piece.
At the end of this 3 hour class you will have made a pair of earrings or a pendant that you can wear proudly.
Students should wear closed toe shoes, natural fiber clothing and have their hair tied back.
