The Austin Area Commission for the Arts welcomes you to a performance by Part Time Ex’s on Saturday, October 14th from 7:30-9:30pm at the Austin Artworks Center. Part Time Ex’s is a rock and roll band based in St. Paul led by Austin natives Jon Stowell and Nick Tobar. The ensemble is excited about its second performance in the ‘Music at the Bank’ concert series. “The Artworks Center is a real asset to the Austin community,” Stowell said, “we’re happy to bring our music back to the gallery for a second year.”
Stowell (1999) and Tobar (2003), both Austin High School alumni, will be performing with Minneapolis multi-instrumentalist Ben Greenwald on bass guitar and percussionist John Hicks on drums. “We’re a little funkier than we were last year,” Stowell laughs, “John and Ben have settled in as our regular rhythm section and they’ve got it on lock down.” The group has been performing in the Twin Cities metro area for the last two years and has gained a reputation for high energy and fun blues-rock. Stowell said he was greeted by a fan at The Dubliner Pub in St. Paul a few weeks back. “A guy at the bar approached me and said ‘You’re the “Part Time Ex’s” guy, right? We love you guys!’ I never thought there would be any notoriety in this.”
Part Time Ex’s will perform two sets of music beginning at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 14th. Admission is $5. “I hope to see familiar faces and meet new friends,” Stowell said. “The focus on art in Austin has become a defining characteristic of this town. We are proud to support the mission of the AACA and share our songs with such a supportive community. Tell your friends and neighbors to come share laughs, fun, and songs with Part Time Ex’s, it’s going to be awesome.”
