The Historic Paramount Theatre is a venue utilized to present high quality performing artists to our community. The space is also available to the Austin community and surrounding area for local performing arts events. While accomplishing these activities, the AACA is committed to maintaining the theatre's status on the National Register of Historic Places.
Now in its third year, the Austin ArtWorks Festival is an annual two-day event at the end of August that celebrates the visual, performing, and literary artists from our area. It is hosted in the Historic Downtown Power Plant.
Opening officially to the public this August 21st, the Austin ArtWorks Center will be a space for our creative community to learn, create, display, and perform in all artistic avenues.
Overseeing these programs is The Austin Area Commission for the Arts (AACA)--an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The AACA envisions a vibrant and successful community enriched by diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities. We will accomplish this vision through our mission to identify, engage, and support the development and advancement of diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities that benefit people in Austin and the surrounding area.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
